evening coffee

Sunday 5 March 2017

So, I’ve been gone from this blog for almost the entirely of February. I would explain the reason for this but I’m not too sure myself. Regardless, I feel refreshed and ready for spring. Spring is the season of growth and rebirth, so this is me, stepping out of my winter rut and getting back on top. I also have lots of exciting posts lined up this month, so keep an eye out for them!

Evening coffee has become a part of my routine. Sipping coffee after eating a wholesome meal, it just speaks to my soul, and what better way to invite you into a catch up post, than to invite you into my evening coffee session? Not gonna lie, ‘evening coffee’ was totally inspired by Moose Blood, but anyway, here are some things I've been doing recently.

Side note: These photos are a bit old, and by old I mean I took them at the beginning of January. I can remember the exact time I took them, it was the day our boiler got switched off and I proceeded to spend the next two weeks moping around in freezing temperatures, but I thought I looked cute and decided to take some photos. I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I used to be very camera shy. So camera shy, that I used to skip school photo days and vividly remember being reduced to tears outside the school hall because I did not want to be in the year group photo. Thankfully such feelings have diminished as I’ve grown older, and taking photos of myself now reminds me that I’ve overcome these feelings. It’s empowering, and gives me hope that in few years time, the things that currently reduce me to tears will wither away, much like my camera shyness.

1)

I saw Modern Baseball live!! Modern Baseball have become a really important band to me, especially their last album, Holy Ghost. Modern Baseball put so much emotion and creativity into their music, it’s very admirable and inspirational. They were amazing live, as expected, and so were the support bands!

2)

Did you hear about Madina Lake Reuniting? Plus they announced UK shows, which I am definitely going to! Madina Lake are such an iconic band from my teenage years, their music fills me with so much nostalgia. Although I haven’t listened to them for a while, their music feels timeless to me. They do really cool things with their music, basing their three concept albums around a fictional town called Madina Lake (hence the name) and the disappearance of a celebrity. Their albums are solid and I've gained a newfound appreciation for the creativity and complexity in their music.

3)

Also, Lorde has released a new song from her upcoming album and I am very stoked. I heard Royals a couple of years ago and lowkey liked the beat but never listened to any of her other work. This all changed last year after discovering her album Pure Heroine. I can't explain how excited I am that she's releasing new music! Speaking of music, I’ve been listening to a lot of good music recently and wrote a post all about it, check it out here!

4)

I’ve been steadily making my way through my Harry Potter reread. I’m currently on the Goblet of Fire, which is my favourite film, so it will be interesting to see how they compare! I haven’t read the books since I was about fourteen so I’m always finding little details I completely forgot about! I do however. remember Hermione’s SPEW society and how it wasn’t included in the films (still disappointed about it tbh) Hermione was such a social justice warrior in the books, I love it.

5)

I've also been running regularly! I started getting back into running in December and have successfully been keeping up with it (although storm Doris did get in the way a bit.) Does anyone else find their ears are really sensitive to cold winds? Mine always ache really terribly if I’m outside for too long, I definitely need to get some ear muffs! I never thought I’d be one to enjoy exercise but running has become a solid part of my life. I love it, not only for the physical benefits but my head always feel so much clearer after I’ve gone for a run. Life feels fifty times better and I feel as though I can do anything!

6)

I have developed a huge crush for hot cross buns. Not sure how or why, but I just can’t get enough of those fruity buns. Banana ice cream is another staple food  in my life (after my wisdom tooth started causing me some intense pain.) ALSO, I successfully made pancakes for Pancake Day! I forgot to put half the required maple syrup in the mixture, so they were a bit bland on their own, but they tasted amazing when topped with warm summer fruits! *drools*

The Coffee

If you love chocolate orange and coffee you have to try this! I have fallen in love with it and it's become my favourite morning and evening coffee. I picked this up whilst cruising round s Sainsburys, it was a little expensive at £2.50 for this little pot, but I usually mix it with some ordinary instant coffee to make it last longer. But it tastes so good!!

Those were the highlights of my February! Hope you have a lovely day, and thanks for reading!

How was your February?
