What are the two things the best things in life? Chocolate and anything high in protein.
So of course, I’m sharing this quick and delicious recipe with you. If you’ve had vegan protein powder before I’m sure you’ve realised that sometimes you need to mix it with a little bit of something else to make it that bit more palatable - whether that’s banana, cocoa powder or flavour drops.
Here is the recipe I’ve been using for my morning Hot Chocolate flavour protein shake, to get that extra bit of protein in while also enjoying a shake that tastes slightly more indulgent. High protein dessert for breakfast every day!
Ingredients
30g vegan protein - I used Awesome Supplements Chocolate Salted Caramel - Ideally use chocolate but cookies and cream also tastes amazing
1 Teaspoon cocoa powder - I used Cadbury’s Bournville
3 Drops MyProtein Maple Flav Drops
1 Shot of Sweet Freedom Chcoshot
The Method
1) I lined my glass with the Chcoshot first to create a pretty and aesthetically pleasing shake, it blends so well with the shake and you can taste that extra chocolate every time you take a sip!
2) Add the protein powder and cocoa powder to the shaker or blender and mix with water or a plant-based milk.
3) Add the flav drops for extra sweetness
4) Pour into your glass and enjoy.
Some alternative combinations that I love using are cookies and cream flavoured protein or mixing things up with chocolate orange, mint or peanut protein. You could also use unflavoured protein (eg soy, pea or rice) and simply add the cocoa powder and flavour drops to add that hot chocolate flavour.
And if you want a real hot chocolate protein shake, you can always use hot water or heat some plant-based milk up before mixing in the dry ingredients!
xoxo

Quick summary:
An 100% plant-based restaurant specialising in fast casual dining and organic comfort food. Filled with Instagrammable interiors, located just a stone's throw from Spitalfields market and full of ridiculously mouth-watering food.
Genesis first made its way onto my radar after popping up on my Instagram feed. The instagrammable interior of plush pink sofas, greenery and astronomy inspired branding caught my eye straight away - as well everything on the menu being plant-based and organic! It’s good for the environment, your taste buds, and your health! (and your aesthetic eye)
Obviously, I needed to try this place, so Aycan and I planned one of our vegan friend dates. Spoiler alert, we loved it so much we planned another.
On my first visit, I ordered the original fries, the chorizo wrap, and the chocolate milkshake. A good solid order. The fries were amazing! They are uniquely cooked in avocado oil which gives them a sort of creaminess - which might sound peculiar but it works! The chorizo wrap was quite small as expected but full of seasoning and spice.
On my second visit, I decided to go for the Shawarma and chocolate milkshake again - because it was that good! On our first visit, Aycan tried the Shawarma and it looked delicious. I definitely had a bit of fomo so just had to try it this time.
At first glance it's massive! But once you open it up and start digging in you realised it's even bigger! It felt never ending, so delicious and satisfying. There's a good portion of smashed avocado inside the wrap and a generous serving of Vegan tahini sauce. The proportion of Seitan ‘doner’ to salad was just right - Genesis definitely offer a generous serving of the Seitan doner which is very refreshing indeed. No skimping with the fake meats here! The sauces have quite a bitter taste to them which might be a bit of an acquired taste but I found them super flavourful and delicious with each mouthful.
Genesis offers a range of fast food classics, from burgers to hot dogs, to other options such as salads and noodles. Drinks from coffee to cocktails to smoothies and even smoothie bowls! And it’s all vegan! There's so much choice that every time I spend a good twenty minutes trying to decide what to order!
What I'm getting in my next order (yes I've already thought about it and yes it took me a good half an hour to decide)
Korean BBQ Wings, Sweet Potato fries with garlic mayo and a Peanut Butter Millshake.

Vegan Shawarma
Having been vegetarian for a good 10 years now, I’ve never actually tried a traditional meat kebab, so I can't really comment on how this matches up to the 'real thing.’ But I can describe how it tastes from a non-comparative point of view.At first glance it's massive! But once you open it up and start digging in you realised it's even bigger! It felt never ending, so delicious and satisfying. Milkshake
This is potentially the best milkshake I've ever had! It tastes just like a milkshake version of a kinder bueno but it's vegan! It's priced a bit steeply at £7.00 but it's worth it every once in a while as a luxury. The Menu
First of all, Genesis is one of the only restaurants I’ve been to where I’ve genuinely been distracted by how good everything looks. As each waiter passes by with another customers order it’s hard to not stare and maybe even salivate a lil bit at how tasty and well crafted each dish looks.Genesis offers a range of fast food classics, from burgers to hot dogs, to other options such as salads and noodles. Have you been to Genesis before? If so what did you think? If not, is it on your food bucketlist yet?

Welcome back! It's been a while since I've been in this space and it's also a while since I've finished a book. So I figured why not go combine these two, go back to my blogging roots and share some bookish thoughts!
Over the years I've shared some wrap ups, top books i’ve read each year, and suggestions based on genres (eg spooky reads!) and today I'm sharing some of the books I'm planning on reading this year - to share love for these books, get some opinions on them and hold myself to account with getting these books read!
I've chosen the following books from my seemingly unshrinkable to be read pile, based on categories/genres I want to read this year.

Breakfasts is the most important meal of the day and also my favourite. There's nothing I enjoy more than waking up to delicious food and enjoying it. I'm always super hungry in the morning and definitely a breakfast person! So today I'm sharing the breakfasts I enjoy the most and find myself turning to in the mornings.
